إن المصلحة العامة لأية دولة تخرج من صراع تقتضي كشف الانتهاكات الجسيمة لحقوق الإنسان والقانون الدولي الإنساني، إذن فمعرفة الحقيقة أحد أهم أدوات العدالة الانتقالية؛ حيث إن معرفة الحقيقة تعمل على منع تكرار ما حدث في الماضي من انتهاكات لحقوق الإنسان، كما تعد وسيلة لمنع تزييف تراث وتاريخ الشعوب من خلال معرفة الأفراد ما حدث لذويهم الأمر الذي يمكن أن تجد فيه عائلات الضحايا بعض العزاء.
كما أن معرفة الحقيقة تعمل على إحداث قطيعة تاريخية مع انتهاكات الماضي والاعتراف بحقوق الضحايا ومحاسبة المنتهكين واستعادة السلام والمحافظة عليه وإعادة المصالحة التي تعمل على لم شتات الأمة ومنع تصدعها.
 
Abstract:
The public interest of any country emerging from a conflict requires exposing gross violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, So knowing the truth is one of the most important tools of transitional justice, As knowing the truth works to prevent the recurrence of what happened in the past in terms of human rights violations, it is also a way to prevent the falsification of the heritage and history of people by knowing what happened to their families, in which the families of the victims can find some consolation.
Knowing the truth also creates a historical rupture between the violation of the past, recognition of the rights of the victims, holding the violators accountable, restoring and preserving peace, and restoring reconciliation that works to bring the nation together and prevent its rift.
